This is a training instructor position responsible for providing vocational instruction in order to develop and instruct students in the Business Occupations vocation.
This position requires the incumbent to assist students, peers, and subordinates in understanding the relevance of, and promotes the development of positive social skills among students through modeling appropriate behavior, positive intervention, and positively intervening and teaching appropriate employability skills for workplace success. USCITIZEN DRUGTEST SSR PROBATION US Citizenship is required. Designated or Random Drug Testing required. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. A 1-year probationary period is required. Duties listed are at the full performance level.
Reviews course materials ensuring the most up-to-date information is utilized in the development of course materials. Applies initiative in selecting, developing and adapting methods and techniques of instruction. Adapts to the individual differences and abilities of students in order to increase interest, improve the quality of instruction, and to ultimately improve the employability of the students. Monitors students' vocational progress on a monthly basis. Maintains a variety of records and reports covering student activities in the vocational phase of the training program. Counsels students about matters relevant to their vocational performance and other Center-related concerns to encourage and motivate them to succeed on Center and after graduation. Handles discipline and behavioral problems for students assigned. The incumbent establishes individual training plans for each student assigned to the Business Occupations vocational training program based on the student's entry level skills. REQUIREMENTS:

DRUG TESTING: This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Selectee must submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random testing thereafter. Final appointment and continued employment is conditional on negative results for illegal drug use.

Assisted in designing and implementing a variety of group activities that stimulate and sustain the interest of students; reviewed and analyzed student needs as it pertains to their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development; recommended purchase and/or repair of learning materials, equipment and furnishings; notified students regarding a variety of common training course topics that included course content, prerequisites, class schedule and course availability, and other pertinent information and periodically reviewed student training records to certify the data is accurate and complete.
GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level; OR master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR equivalent combinations of specialized experience and education. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
GS-09: Examples of specialized experience are:
Taught or instructed in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); supervised or administered a training program; developed or reviewed training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluated training results and/or worked in the occupation or subject matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
